  • Golden Harvest Food Bank is expanding its Summer Harvest Feeding Program to deliver 35-pound boxes with fresh produce and meats to families with children 17 and under in 13 counties—rising hunger after school ends has increased the need for these meals. The food bank is preparing about 12,000 boxes to help meet the growing demand.  WRDW

CRIME NEWS

  • An Augusta man was arrested on Sunday for a hit-and-run that killed 23-year-old Xavion Wimberly (of Hephzibah) when he was struck while crossing Deans Bridge Road near Suz Lounge around 3 a.m. and later pronounced dead at 4:12 a.m., and the driver is charged with vehicular homicide, hit-and-run, and DUI.  WRDW
  • Richmond County deputies are seeking Antoine Keshawn Smith, 28, who is charged with aggravated assault after he shot a 39-year-old man on May 1 at Ruby Drive + Richmond Hill Road during an argument.  WRDW

  • Academy of Richmond County seniors celebrated graduation yesterday at the Bell Auditorium—students, including salutatorian McKenzie Hill and valedictorian Lauren Andrews, received their diplomas as friends and family cheered.  The Augusta Chronicle

  • Authorities warn of a text scam that falsely claims you owe a traffic ticket—a method used to steal credit card numbers. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office and Driver Services say no agency sends such texts and advise deleting them.  WRDW
