- ➤ A couple donated $1M to Golden Harvest Food Bank—its annual ceremony honored donors and partners for reaching the campaign goal during the 'It's Spooky to be Hungry Campaign'—marking a milestone for local community support. FOX54
- ➤ Several Christmas tree lighting festivals are planned in the Augusta area this holiday season—featuring tree lightings, festive music, and refreshments—in locations such as downtown Augusta, North Augusta, Grovetown, Columbia County and Fort Gordon; the Harlem Museum event is held today. - ➤ Golden Harvest Food Bank has partnered with United Way of the CSRA and DoorDash’s Project DASH to deliver nutritious food, hygiene supplies, and household items to homebound seniors, families with young children, and neighbors facing transportation challenges. - ➤ North Augusta Public Safety responded to a gas leak near SRP Park on November 19th — Railroad Avenue and Center Street were closed until further notice and Dominion Energy crews arrived soon after. WRDW

- ➤ Hooters closed its Augusta restaurant—a spot many fans and John Daly visited during Masters week—and the building was demolished this week as the company shifts to a franchise model while promising support for affected team members. The Augusta Chronicle
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Eight WARN notices from Georgia companies have announced nearly 1,000 layoffs as workers in Augusta, Savannah, Tucker, Atlanta, Commerce and Roswell will lose their jobs due to service changes and facility closures. The cuts are set between early January and December and include 67 layoffs at Doctors Hospital in Augusta and 289 at Baker & Taylor — more companies will begin the process soon. The Augusta Chronicle

- ➤ Georgia drivers with State Farm saw major rate cuts over the past year after state officials led by Insurance Commissioner John King negotiated a new rate filing — the filing lowered rates by 3% — saving drivers about $190 per vehicle and an estimated $400 million annually. WRDW
