ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A washout closed both northbound lanes at Butler Creek on Mike Padgett Highway, about a mile south of I-520, reducing traffic to one lane—repair work is expected to take at least a week, weather permitting—while southbound lanes remain open and drivers were advised to slow down. WRDW

- ➤ Augusta parents can use the free Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website—provided by the U.S. Department of Justice—to check local addresses by name, ZIP code, or street address before trick-or-treating to help keep children safe. WRDW

- ➤ A mural called Ours was unveiled Wednesday morning at 802 Broad St by the Greater Augusta Arts Council and Destination Augusta. Local artist Baruti Tucker led 100 Augustans in painting the work that shows landmarks including the Miller and Imperial theaters, the 6th Street Railroad Bridge and the James Brown statue. - ➤ A new Golden Blocks mural honoring African American military service will be unveiled on Laney Walker Boulevard on November 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The project, headed by local artist Theron Cartwright in partnership with community groups, will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony with remarks by local leaders and a performance by Lucy Craft Laney High School JROTC — marking a tribute to Augusta’s rich cultural legacy. - ➤ AAA reported that the statewide average price for regular unleaded dropped to $2.79 on Monday—a decrease of 2 cents from last week, 9 cents from last month, and 14 cents from last year. - ➤ Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper announced that former Governor and USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue—now University System of Georgia Chancellor—was inducted into the National Agricultural Hall of Fame in Kansas City on Oct 23 for his significant contributions to American agriculture. - ➤ A New York federal judge ruled in favor of news publishers including Gannett—owner of our Chronicle—in a case that found Google broke antitrust rules by using its ad tools unfairly.
