- ➤ Augusta moviegoers will watch the IMAX reissue of 'Sinners' at Regal Augusta Exchange from Oct. 30 until Nov. 5 — the film returns after a popular summer run to boost Halloween thrills. - ➤ A study from the Commonwealth Fund shows that if enhanced ACA tax credits expire at the end of 2025, nearly 694,000 Georgians may lose their marketplace coverage—33,600 jobs could be lost and state GDP may drop by $3.74 billion. - ➤ Augusta Technical College announced Mr. Jimmy Bostock as the 2025–2026 Outstanding Teacher of the Year for the Adult Education Department following a local competition at the Jack B. Patrick Information Technology Center—he will receive a $2,500 cash award and represent adult education at regional and state events. Augusta CEO
- ➤ Columbia County schools reported two safety incidents on Oct 23—one at Lakeside High where a student was struck by peers and faces disciplinary and criminal charges, and another at Evans Elementary where a fourth-grade student was found with a knife and is being disciplined while parents are urged to discuss safety with their children. - ➤ The Augusta Canal Authority cut the ribbon on a new ADA compliant kayak launch on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Mill Village Trailhead, 1905 Pearl Avenue. Officials from the Georgia Rehabilitation Institute, the Canoe and Kayak Club of Augusta, and the Augusta Sports Council attended the event—marking the first launch of its kind in Augusta-Richmond County. - ➤ VA Augusta Health Care System is offering mammography screenings during Breast Cancer Awareness Month for veterans aged 40 to 74, with eligibility extended for those with burn pit exposure (based on deployment history).
