COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ At the Augusta fairgrounds on Hale Street, the Georgia Carolina State Fair starts its first weekend while the Western Carolina State Fair finishes its last weekend; the fair has an animal barn, a pageant, rides, and food. It will run until October 26 (with doors opening at 5 p.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends) and has special nights (such as a Carlo special and free entry for military guests) that raise money for local charities. - ➤ Belvedere Fire Department and Warren Belvedere Church teamed up for a day of fun at the fire station where families had food, rides, firefighter training and a chance to pet animals. They plan to hold the event again next year — a promise to keep teaching fire safety in our community. WRDW
