- ➤ On Oct.15, the Salvation Army of Augusta opened volunteer sign-ups for bell ringers for its Red Kettle Campaign—an effort that funds local programs providing shelter, meals, and utility help. - ➤ Martinez’s historic antebellum house, Stuart Hall, on the Our Savior Episcopal Church campus is set to be demolished Monday after a three-year effort to save the 2,000-square-foot building failed—church leaders discovered over 120 issues including black mold and repair costs estimated at $1.1 million. Members have taken pieces of the house and plan to honor its nearly 200-year history by collecting stories and artifacts after its removal. The Augusta Press
- ➤ On Saturday, volunteers in Augusta joined City Serve Augusta, a nonprofit that has been active for 10 years, to clean up parts of the city with six projects including painting over graffiti in the Saint Sebastian tunnel and trimming bushes along a nature walk. - ➤ Hundreds marched on Saturday afternoon in downtown Augusta for the No Kings protest. The march began at 3:30 p.m. near 6th and Telfair and ended at 8th Street, where local leaders—including Commissioner Jordan Johnson and Ceretta Smith—spoke at the rally. WRDW
