- ➤ A Morgan County judge ruled that six landowners near the Rivian plant are not required to pay $338,000 in legal costs because their lawsuit was a genuine effort to test if local land use rules were properly waived—state officials may still seek additional costs in a Fulton County case as the Rivian project moves forward. - ➤ Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams filed a lawsuit to stop commissioners from influencing his budget matters—however, a judge found his petition confusing and ordered him to amend it by Sept. 28.
