- ➤ The Hispanic-American Cultural Association of the CSRA held its 30th annual festival on Saturday in Augusta — a milestone event in Hispanic culture — drawing local interest. WRDW
- ➤ On September 25 the inaugural Inspiring: Women Awards luncheon will honor six women at Flowing Wells Theatre—keynote speaker Dr. Lisa Maddox will address the audience. - ➤ Augusta will mark one year since Hurricane Helene hit on Sept. 27, 2024 when the city and Mayor Johnson will host a commemoration event on Sept. 27th at 10 a.m. at Heroes’ Overlook on the Augusta Riverwalk—city leaders, emergency workers and community members will honor those lost and share updates on recovery efforts. - ➤ The Columbia County Board of Commissioners will review multiple rezoning requests, including one to rezone a solar farm (a key project) at its meeting Tuesday evening. The Augusta Press
- ➤ The Augusta Commission will review a revitalization plan for South Turpin Hill—adding new housing and improving infrastructure—and a charter review resolution intended to update the historic neighborhood. - ➤ Recent inspections from Sept. 5 to Sept. 12 revealed that several local restaurants had multiple health violations; Buffalo Wild Wings near the Augusta Target scored 73—failing to meet cleaning and temperature standards.
