  • The Augusta Rowing Club held its first Erg-A-Thon on Saturday to raise funds for uniforms as rowers earned money based on how many meters they rowed. Club president Kirsten Aylward said the club plans to expand the event & include more junior participants in the future.  WRDW
  • Austin Jackson Injury Lawyers announced a $7,000 donation to the Boys &Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta through the Augusta GreenJackets’ Doubles for Dollars campaign. The donation was celebrated with an on-field check presentation on Friday at SRP Park—supporting local youth.  WRDW
  • Local fire departments participated in the Tunnels to Towers run at Augusta University’s Summerville campus to honor fallen firefighter Stephen Siller and remember 9/11 heroes ahead of the 24th anniversary.  WRDW

  • Terrall Keith earned his CDL after finishing a 9-week Commercial Truck Driving course at Oconee Fall Line Technical College—he later secured a driver job promotion at his company. He praised the hands-on instruction and flexible schedule that let him train while still working.  The Augusta Chronicle

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Georgia Forestry Commission forester Kevin Lee of Mitchell won the 2024 Hugh Hammond Bennett Award for Conservation for his work guiding private landowners on forestry practices—he advised on cost-share programs and timber harvesting in the Southeast.  The Augusta Chronicle

  • Keisha Lance Bottoms, a governor candidate, visited Augusta on Saturday at the Lucy Craft Laney Museum to talk with local residents—she discussed plans to help working-class families, improve affordable housing, education and small business support.  WRDW
