  • Officials said 15 people died in Georgia car accidents during the Labor Day travel period—while eight died in South Carolina crashes.  WRDW

CRIME NEWS

  • The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is asking for public help in finding two juveniles who reportedly ran away from their foster home in Augusta.  FOX54

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Jessye Norman School of The Arts will host its Rising Stars benefit concert on October 12th at 4:00 p.m. at Maxwell Performing Arts Theater, where young singers from the Atlanta Opera will perform to support free arts education for local students. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Georgia Power partnered with Georgia Historical Society and Georgia Public Broadcasting to relaunch the Emmy award-winning 'Today in Georgia History' series in August. The revived program (originally launched in 2011) aired on nine TV and 21 radio stations and offered new interactive resources for educators, students, and families.  Augusta CEO
  • Augusta University was named one of Georgia’s top 100 employers by Forbes for the seventh straight year, ranking 33rd overall and as the highest among public institutions—this honor confirms the campus’ role as a major employer supporting over 6,200 workers and boosting the local economy by $1.62 billion.  Augusta CEO

  • Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms is campaigning for governor with a meet and greet scheduled today at 3 p.m.—she launched her bid in May and said she will fight for strong leadership against challenges from Washington.  WRDW
