- ➤ Augusta Regional Airport announced that American Airlines will add a new daily flight to DFW on October 7 to offer travelers an early-morning option. The flight departs AGS at 7:07 a.m. on CRJ-900 aircraft and provides about 150 direct daily seats. Augusta CEO
- ➤ Augusta’s Villa Europa announced it is closing after facing financial struggles from the pandemic, closure rumors, and hurricane damage. - ➤ Augusta resident Kim Brown, 40, pleaded guilty to aiding in filing false income tax returns as a ghost preparer and was sentenced to nearly two years in prison—she must pay $541,912 in restitution as announced by U.S. Attorney Margaret E. Heap. The Augusta Chronicle

- ➤ Richmond County’s new school superintendent Dr. Malinda Cobb was chosen earlier this month after more than seven months as interim—she plans to boost high school programming with a focus on workforce development, updated guidance counseling, and enhanced safety while continuing to host town hall meetings for families; Cobb has been part of the Augusta community since 2001.
