Two early-career researchers from IMMCG were invited to join the ATVB Editorial Board for a two-year term.
Redouane Aherrahrou will speak at the 2027 Atherosclerosis Gordon Research Seminar in Barcelona while Ravi Komaravolu will co-edit a research topic on myeloid heterogeneity with submissions open through March 30.

Fort Gordon officials urge residents in privatized housing to sign up for independent safety inspections scheduled Sept.
8 to Sept. 18+ if 296 homes are not registered by Sept. 1, inspectors will auto-assign appointments to check smoke detectors and potential structural issues.
Augusta leaders honored former Senate Majority Leader Charles W.
Walker Sr. as a mentor & a pioneering political force whose legacy continues to shape local government.
The Georgia Department of Transportation awarded contracts for roadwork on I-520, Mike Padgett Highway and State Highway 88 in Richmond County.
E.R. Snell Contractor Inc. will perform ramp widening and resurfacing improvements, with work scheduled to finish by Oct. 31, 2027 and June 30, 2027.
Georgia lawmakers have passed a permanent DST law that would shift winter sunrise and sunset by about an hour — but the change awaits federal approval as the House advances the Sunshine Protection Act.
Until then, residents will continue using the current clock-change schedule.
🏥 Health
The Cyber Resiliency Center at Augusta University announced a new plan with state health leaders to boost cybersecurity in rural care.
The effort (with support from CrowdStrike and HITRUST) will protect patient data and expand secure telehealth services in local hospitals.
Local philanthropists Allan and Ursula Soto donated $1M to expand services at the Kisner Center for pediatric developmental and behavioral health at Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital, launched by golfer Kevin Kisner and his wife Brittany on Thursday, Aug.
20. The expansion will support more comprehensive care for children.
🏈 Sports
Ezzard Horn is the new boys basketball head coach at Cross Creek following Lawrence Kelly's departure this summer — he helped the Razorbacks win state titles in 2021, 2022, and 2026.
Horn will coach football through fall before switching to basketball in winter.
ARC football, coming off a 5-6 season with several close losses, prepares for its first 5A challenge.
Coach Keenan Grissett said the team is leveraging returning talent & new recruits as they begin their season at Laney today.
