  • Georgia lawmakers are weighing a new need based college scholarship program to boost help for students who face tuition costs beyond the merit based HOPE program. A state Senate committee will meet today at the Capitol—discussing cost implications and whether to prioritize incoming students or those near graduation.  The Augusta Chronicle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Augusta property owners will see higher tax bills as garbage, streetlight and school fees rise — the commission is weighing a property tax hike to help cover these increases.  The Augusta Press

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Richmond County's median home price averaged about $220,000 in July, up from $200,000 in January as Realtor.com shows five upscale properties with prices from $1.4 million to $1,799,900. One property at 54 Conifer Cir—located in west Augusta—features modern recreation rooms and luxury upgrades, while another on 946 Milledge Rd preserves 19th-century history with a renovated design.  The Augusta Chronicle

  • Today the Augusta GreenJackets swept the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers with a 5—4 win, marking their first series sweep since August 2022.
