CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The husband of the county solicitor turned himself in Friday and was charged with terroristic threats and firearm possession after investigators linked him to making threats against a surveying company worker on June 30 in Augusta—officials plan to send his case to the judicial circuit district attorney for prosecution. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Georgia’s unemployment rate was 3.4% in July, down one-tenth from June and eight-tenths lower than the national rate. The report shows that while some job sectors lost positions, health care led with strong gains — a sign that more Georgians are finding work. Augusta CEO

- ➤ The Georgia General Assembly passed the Distraction-Free Education Act that bans personal electronic devices for K-8 students to improve focus and lower bullying. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Beginning this fall, AU will install 21 new SAFE Station cabinets at key campus locations to centralize life-saving tools—AEDs, first aid kits, Stop the Bleed supplies, and Narcan—for quick emergency response. In Richmond County, ARC lost 35—46 to Burke County, Cross Creek won 22—12 over Josey, Hephzibah beat Washingon-Wilkes 34—16, Lucy C.
