Columbia County Parks, Recreation, and Events held its first Dancing with the Stars event for people with special needs Saturday evening to offer older teens and adults a chance to make friends and share achievements — attendees said the event helped them connect and feel supported — county officials said they plan similar events in the future.

Eric Anton was arrested Thursday night in downtown Augusta after allegedly striking multiple vehicles, fleeing from police on foot, and being tackled by a deputy — he faces charges including DUI, hit and run, and obstruction with bond set at $8,900 while his criminal record spans several counties.
