AARP Georgia is accepting nominations for the prestigious 2025 Andrus Award for Community Service—honoring Georgians aged 50 and older who volunteer unpaid time—and nominations will be accepted until August 30, with the award recipient announced in the fall.

Two teenagers (ages 16 and 18) were charged with murder after a Sunday shooting in Augusta killed a 14-year-old and injured three others, including a 12-year-old, when gunfire was reported near Advance Auto Parts (3404 Deans Bridge Rd.) at 6:05 p.m.
