  • Over 50 players and coaches gathered at Silver Bluff High School for the annual kids’ summer camp — held on July 26th.  WRDW
  • The Augusta Boxing Club held a back-to-school drive on Saturday—families picked up free supplies to help children prepare for school. Rayonta Whitfield said the club organized the event to support families who have limited funds for school supplies.  WRDW

  • Eggs Up Grill opened on June 23 on Town Park Lane and owner Clarissa Knotts is planning to open a second location in Grovetown within the next year—she and her fiancé Kevin Patrick aim to meet growing local demand for breakfast and brunch.  Augusta Good News
  • Two new restaurants—Wingstop and McDonald's—opened at Eisenhower Crossing in front of Kroger Marketplace near Fort Gordon. Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders plans a soft opening on Aug. 4 while Ms. Hibachi is still under construction as the area quickly grows with new apartment complexes and activity from Fort Gordon.  The Augusta Chronicle

  • Richmond County deputies arrested a suspect in the Wheeler Road hit-and-run investigation from May — the incident critically injured a 27-year-old woman.  FOX54

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local artists performed at the inaugural Homegrown Music Festival as organizer Burt Rayburn explained how the event started and shared plans for future editions — the celebration brought together local talent for a community-wide musical showcase.  The Augusta Chronicle
  • On Friday and Saturday nights, the Greater Augusta Summer Troupe performed the comedic musical 'Urinetown' at the Performing Arts Center in Evans.  WRDW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On July 25, Mayor Garnett Johnson announced plans to revitalize Augusta's riverfront by extending the Riverwalk, creating a nature trail, and rebuilding the unused Boathouse—demolition can begin immediately. The project may use funds from a previous parking deck plan and a SPLOST 9 vote in November—construction is set to start in Quarter 2 or Quarter 3 of 2026 with full completion expected within two years.  Augusta Good News
