  • Retired Army Captain Joseph Caley, who lost his leg in Iraq, received a new wheelchair-accessible home from Homes For Our Troops in the CSRA as the nonprofit celebrated its 416th completed home.   • Ella Pascual from Greenbrier High School organized the Pack for Comfort project and made two trips this month to the Georgia Cancer Center to deliver care packages filled with blankets, socks, and activity books for patients receiving chemotherapy — she surpassed her goal of 50 items in each category by collecting 100 of each — while also teaching local students about the dangers of vaping.  Augusta Good News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Arts in the Heart festival will run from September 19th through 21st on the Augusta Common along Reynolds Street and the Savannah River after relocating from Broad Street due to construction projects — the event will feature a Jazz Stage at the 8th Street Market entrance, a Soul Suite Stage at the Marriott on the Riverwalk, and a Community Stage at the Jessye Norman Amphitheater with over 150 juried artists and diverse food vendors.  The Augusta Chronicle
