- ➤ A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Old Highway One between Tobacco Road and Deans Bridge Road early Sunday morning—he was walking in dark clothing, was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition, and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. - ➤ A repeated shoplifter, Toni Wallace, struck deputy Jeff Adams with her vehicle while fleeing Augusta Mall on Saturday at 3:25 p.m.—injuring his knee and wrist that were treated at Piedmont Hospital—and she was charged with criminal trespass and aggravated assault while shoplifting charges remain pending. - ➤ Two people were struck by vehicles this past weekend in Augusta—deputy Jeff Adams was injured at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday outside Augusta Mall while trying to stop shoplifting suspect Toni Wallace, who hit him as she fled and was later arrested, and a pedestrian was seriously hurt at about 1:15 a.m. early Sunday on Old Highway One—and authorities are investigating both incidents.
