- ➤ Authorities on Friday released the suspect’s name (wanted on a murder charge) in connection with a fatal shooting (at a convenience store on Barton Chapel Road in Augusta) that occurred on Thursday. WRDW
- ➤ Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff's Office responded early Friday morning to an armed robbery on the 1900 block of Harvest Point Way when two armed suspects stole a man's iPhone+house keys and fled the scene, and investigators continue to pursue leads. WRDW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Richmond County School System will provide free breakfast and lunch to all students during the 2025 to 2026 school year through a federal program that removes the need for meal applications—benefiting over 28,000 students—while saving families money on daily meals. The Augusta Press
- ➤ Richmond County public schools will serve free breakfast and lunch to all students for the upcoming academic year through a federal program that removes meal application requirements — more than 29,000 students, mostly in schools with high SNAP and Medicaid participation, are expected to benefit.
