  • Destination Augusta updated the Public Services Committee on Tuesday about plans for a new Outdoor Urban Adventure Center at Freedom Bridge. The center will add an eight-story climbing and zipline tower as well as a two-story climbing course to Riverwalk — and The Forge will manage operations — promising a fresh outdoor experience for locals and visitors.  Augusta Good News
  • SRP Federal Credit Union team members raised $45,622.63 over a three-month fundraiser—using events like the Heart Walk, basket raffles, food truck fundraisers and Friday Jeans Day—to benefit the American Heart Association.   • Today, the Salvation Army of Augusta is asking the community to donate school supplies so homeless children in shelters nearing capacity can start school prepared.   • A woman behind bars for a pool scam pleaded for an early release on June 23 but Judge Barry Fleming denied her request on June 27—he ruled based on victims’ testimonies and the failure to pay restitution.  WRDW

  • On July 1, Georgia named Brunswick stew as its official state stew and cornbread as its state bread after House Bill 233 passed—highlighting the state's rich culinary traditions.  The Augusta Chronicle
  • Augusta City Administrator Tameka Allen recommended a $426 million SPLOST 9 project list that includes $65 million for a new jail pod, $110 million for roads and drainage work, and $65 million for quality-of-life upgrades — her plan trims over a billion dollars in funding requests to focus on fully funded projects.
