- ➤ Historic Augusta’s Downtown Loft + Living Tour returns this summer with a new look, focusing on The Lofts at King Mill. The event will feature an opening reception with live music and hors d’oeuvres on July 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. and guided tours on July 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with tickets at $45 for both days or $25 for Saturday only, and proceeds benefiting Historic Augusta, Inc. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Augusta Tech is partnering with Columbia County Fire Rescue to let firefighters earn an associate degree + the program will help them gain credentials and improve their training for future work. WRDW
- ➤ The Richmond County Board of Education cut its superintendent candidate list from 35 to 6 as it works to choose one to three finalists; Dr. Malinda Cobb remains the temporary superintendent and the board will meet on July 22nd to continue its review—community feedback has helped shape their priorities. - ➤ During the July meeting, the Augusta Planning Commission approved a special exception for a new liquor store at 2059 Central Ave with a condition that it closes by 9 p.m., as commissioners voted mixed and local residents voiced support and concerns. The Augusta Press
- ➤ At Monday's city council meeting, North Augusta leaders approved safety improvements and gave updates on Hurricane Helene clean-up efforts—stating that officials will continue to address storm damage as work progresses.
