Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 7th of July.
Good morning, Augusta.
Several youth runaway cases were reported in Augusta recently (including three girls last seen on Old Waynesboro Road on June 27 and two sisters missing from Winston Way on June 26), but law enforcement said the total number has stayed steady thanks to better reporting (especially via social media) as they work with juvenile services to bring the teens home.
The MIS Committee will discuss a memorandum of understanding with the City of Grovetown for dispatch services — the meeting will focus on setting the guidelines for their coordination.
July is here and Master Gardeners confirm that summer is upon us—local residents are encouraged to start preparing their gardens for the warm days ahead.
Tomorrow, the GreenJackets will begin a homestand at SRP Park that runs through July 13—events include bobblehead giveaways, military tributes, food and drink specials, and community days.
Fans will enjoy Tacos and Tallboys, Baseball Bingo and, on July 13, Dinosaur Day with a school supply drive.
After the Fireflies took an early lead, the GreenJackets fought back to win 7-3 at Segra Park — Corona earned his fifth win with 3.1 scoreless innings — and split the series.
The team has a day off and will host the Salem Red Sox Tuesday evening.
