  • The YMCA of Greater Augusta celebrated 10 years of Camp Ivey, an overnight camp (for young people with disabilities) held at Y's Camp Lakeside.  WRDW
  • Golden Harvest Food Bank in Augusta received part of a $10 million grant from the David and Nicole Tepper Foundation on Wednesday—its largest donation in history—to help fight hunger in the Carolinas and assist more than 300 children this month.  WRDW

  • Authorities in Richmond County are asking the public for help to find missing teens—if residents have any information, they should contact local police immediately— as investigators follow new leads.  WRDW
  • The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is searching for 24-year-old Hunter Myers, who was reported missing Friday after he was last seen walking west on Riverwatch Parkway at 9 a.m.—he was wearing blue work pants, boots and a white tank top and is described as 5’11 and 155 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, and anyone with information is asked to call 7068211020 or 7068211080.  NewsChannel 6

CULTURE NEWS

  • Augusta is hosting its first Pride events this weekend to mark 10 years since same-sex marriage was legalized nationwide—local residents find the day a time for both celebration and personal reflection. The Pride Parade starts today at 10 a.m. in downtown Augusta and will be followed by the festival at Augusta Common—highlighting a day of community progress.  WRDW

  • Augusta University won the 2025 CSO50 Award for its innovative cybersecurity project that strengthens defenses and trains future professionals—an honor that confirms its leadership in digital security.  The Augusta Press
  • Augusta University named Jeff Snow as executive vice president for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement and he will start on Aug. 26. He was formerly the vice president of University Advancement at Milwaukee School of Engineering — a role in which he led major fundraising campaigns and built community partnerships.  Augusta CEO
  • SRNS started its 2025 Summer Internship Program on June 10 at the Savannah River Site by choosing 173 top students from 18 states and Canada to work on projects for national security and our environment.   • Georgia Power will not disconnect service for nonpayment if a heat advisory is in effect or forecast until 8:00 a.m. on the scheduled disconnection day—this temporary rule only stops disconnects during high heat while customers are urged to make payment arrangements.  Augusta CEO
