CRIME NEWS

  • A search warrant in Aiken turned up a large stash of drugs, including fentanyl + other substances, along with a gun and cash, according to deputies.  WRDW
  • Augusta law enforcement is searching for James Sullivan—wanted for aggravated assault after a shooting on June 6 at the Azalea Park Apartments on Fayetteville Drive—and warns that he is armed and dangerous.  WRDW
  • Deputies are searching for Calvin C. Philpot Jr.—a man who is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 115 pounds, and is wanted for aggravated assault in connection to a shooting that occurred May 19 on the 2500 block of Lyman Street, who frequents CK Mart on Deans Bridge Road and is considered armed and dangerous; anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Office.  WRDW
  • A 17-year-old suspect, Darryl “DJ” Jenkins, is wanted for aggravated assault after a shooting on Saturday along the 3600 block of Alene Circle—Richmond County Sheriff’s Office warns he is armed and dangerous and asks anyone with information to call them.  WRDW

  • The Georgia Department of Natural Resources warns residents to be GatorWise as warmer weather brings more alligator sightings — people must assume alligators are near water, never feed them and keep pets and children safe from the water's edge.  The Augusta Chronicle

HEALTH NEWS

  • On June 6, Paceline raised more than $250,000 to fund seven cancer research projects even though Hurricane Helene cancelled its bike ride; the event was held at the M. Bert Storey Research Building where officials highlighted projects such as a study using salmonella to treat cancer.  Augusta Good News
