- ➤ Tyler Lamont Preston, 20, was arrested Friday at McArthur Park Apartments in Augusta—he is charged with murder after he shot property manager Kameron Mason, 28 during a pool dispute, and a second victim remains in treatment at Wellstar MCG Health. The Augusta Press
- ➤ A woman named Lauren Fortner was arrested for a fatal head-on collision on May 7th when she crossed several lanes on Mike Padgett Hwy and struck Mark Pregel IV’s vehicle—killing him, as she was injured, charged with Homicide by Vehicle, and later released from Richmond County Jail. - ➤ Early voting is underway for Georgia’s Public Service Commission primary elections—voters in Augusta can cast their ballots at designated community centers from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. until June 13. - ➤ Georgia lawmakers are set to gather reliable data on data centers’ electricity and water use as part of a House committee created by Speaker Jon Burns to plan for the future. Experts reported that the 97 operating centers plus 19 planned ones use vast resources, which costs an estimated $300 million in lost tax revenue while providing few jobs — and several hearings are scheduled this summer.
