- ➤ On May 24th, community members met at Augusta Elks Lodge #250 for Columbia County Unity Day to raise money for the families of Deputy Brandon Sikes and Gavin White. - ➤ Early Sunday, a Hephzibah man named Xavion Wimberly, 23, was fatally struck by a car traveling south at about 3 a.m. while crossing Deans Bridge Road in front of Suz Lounge in Augusta—officials said a suspect and the vehicle were located nearly a half mile from the scene and the coroner pronounced him dead at about 4 a.m. The Augusta Chronicle
