- ➤ Columbia County high school graduations took place May 20-22 with about 2,000 students receiving diplomas from five schools at venues including Evans Towne Center Park + the Columbia County Performing Arts Center; Grovetown moved indoors due to weather. - ➤ Maryland Fried Chicken on Broad St. in Augusta improved its health score to 84 from an earlier 56 this May & inspectors noted that repairs and extra cleaning are needed to maintain safe food conditions. The Augusta Chronicle

- ➤ Augusta’s GreenJackets split Sunday’s doubleheader against the Fireflies by winning the opener 2-1 and losing game two 8-5 — the series win keeps the team five games above .500 as they get ready for tomorrow’s matchup in Kannapolis. The Augusta Press
- ➤ The Augusta GreenJackets hosted a Memorial Day game Sunday to honor military members who sacrificed for the nation; local fans gathered to pay their respects. WRDW
- ➤ The U.S. Senior Men's Over-40 National Team hosted a youth clinic at Lions Memorial Field Stadium in Riverview Park for 60 local kids, as a training camp ended Sunday. The team now prepares for the Seniors World Cup in Thailand from June 1 to June 6. WRDW
- ➤ The Augusta University men's golf team wrapped up its season on Sunday with a tenth place finish at the National Golf Invitational at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club (Maricopa, Arizona). Pieter Rossouw Jr. led the Jaguars with a 4-under-par round. Augusta Good News
