  • Villa Europa is asking Augusta residents to dine in or take out from today through May 26 to help keep the historic restaurant open as its future remains uncertain.   • Richmond County deputies are asking for help finding a missing 13-year-old in Augusta—neighbors are urged to report any tips as the search continues.  WRDW
  • Augusta residents are losing thousands to phone scams where callers use public records to trick elderly victims into sending funds via wire transfers or gift cards—Richmond County Sheriff Eugene Brantley warns that no official agency calls to demand payment and urges people to hang up and report any suspicious calls.  WRDW
  • A fatal shooting occurred on the 2500 block of Lumpkin Road in Augusta Wednesday evening+one person was killed as the Richmond County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.  WRDW
  • Kyania Lashawn Graddy, 23, from Wrens, was arrested Tuesday and charged with vehicular homicide for fatally striking 42-year-old bicyclist Jolene Davis along Peach Orchard Road near Willis Foreman Road on Monday at 4:44 a.m.—Davis was pronounced dead at 5:32 a.m.—authorities said.  The Augusta Press
  • The Richmond County Sheriff's Office said a tip to its Homeless Operations Team at about 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday led officers to a body buried in a shallow grave beneath the 15th Street Bridge at Riverwatch Parkway—remains that were sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for autopsy and identification.  The Augusta Chronicle

  • Robert Watkins of Troop 146 was awarded the 2025 Sam Tyson Eagle Scout Scholarship for his strong academics and service. He led a project at Generations Park to install trail markers—he will study Political Science at the University of South Carolina this fall.  Augusta CEO

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health inspectors from the Georgia Department of Public Health checked restaurants in Richmond and Columbia counties between May 9 and 15 and found improper food storage and undercooked meals that led to low scores at some places—one local Augusta restaurant barely passed due to poor housekeeping. Other establishments earned perfect or near-perfect scores while a few failed with scores as low as 72, showing a wide gap in food safety standards.  The Augusta Chronicle
