- ➤ A new Feeding America report shows that food insecurity is rising across Golden Harvest Food Bank’s 24-county service area — 1 in 6 people and 1 in 4 children face hunger, with Richmond and Hancock counties reporting even higher rates. - ➤ Representatives of SRP Federal Credit Union presented nearly $290,000 from the 2024 SRP Affinity Debit Card Program to Aiken County Public Schools on Wednesday, with funds reaching nine schools that can choose how best to use the donation — each school determines its own spending needs. WRDW
- ➤ Nine students from John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School have been selected for the 2025 Georgia Governor’s Honors Program. Nearly 100 students were nominated and 60 advanced to state-level interviews based on applications, video auditions and in-person reviews (the program is fully funded by the Georgia Department of Education and the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement). Brian Kemp signed the Fentanyl Eradication and Removal Act on Monday to impose mandatory minimum sentences for trafficking 4 to 14 grams of fentanyl—offenders must serve at least five years in prison.
