  • Augusta University students gathered on Saturday for Jagathon, a six-hour dance and fundraiser hosted by Jaguar Miracle that raised $13,857 for Children's Hospital of Georgia. CRIME NEWS

  • April Evalyn Short, a U.S. Army spouse at Fort Eisenhower, pleaded guilty to murder in the second degree for the stabbing of her 11-month-old son on November 15, 2023 — she awaits sentencing pending a presentence investigation, according to her attorney.  NewsChannel 6
  • The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is seeking five people for questioning in connection to the June 15 homicide of 28-year-old Elias Delk outside Dollar General on Martin Luther King Jr Blvd — two arrests have already been made in connection with the case.  WRDW
  • Richmond County authorities are seeking Randall Johnson, Jermaine Ramsey, and Freddie Smith for questioning in connection with the brutal beating death of local father Elias Delk, 28-year-old, whose body was found early the morning of June 15 outside Dollar General on Martin Luther King Jr.- witnesses said the violence began after an argument at a nearby bar.  The Augusta Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Augusta Christian Schools has proposed a separate elementary campus across the street from its longtime Baston Road location to expand its programs. The new two-story building on a 5-acre plot will be reviewed by the Columbia County Planning Commission on April 17 — the expansion plan aims to support the school’s growing enrollment.  The Augusta Chronicle
