  • Trader Joe’s recalled about 61,500 bottles of Gerolsteiner Sparkling Water that were sold between December 27th and January 28th because the glass bottles could crack—causing cuts. Customers in Georgia and 11 other states can return the bottles to the store where they were purchased for a full refund without needing proof of purchase.  The Augusta Chronicle

  • Marshall Jones, project manager for Secure Records Solutions, said his company recently acquired the Records Management Center in Augusta and faces challenges with growth—challenges the firm will address as it expands operations.   • An outside review found that Deputy David S. Hopkins was justified in shooting suspect Brandon Hill last week in front of Glenn Hills Middle School after Hill pointed a gun at him—he was shot five times—and he was taken to Doctors Hospital in critical condition.  WRDW

  • On Saturday and Sunday, the Foodees Festival on the Freedom Bridge showcased local chefs and small businesses while offering Augusta residents a taste of home-grown cuisine and culture.  WRDW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Georgia Power Foundation awarded $250K on Monday to help expand Augusta Tech’s Automotive Institute at 1122 Walton Way—this 65,000-square-foot facility will train over 1,000 auto technicians each year. Named the Jim Hudson Automotive Institute after a $1M gift, it will offer courses in auto repair, electric, hybrid and diesel engine technology while upskilling local workers.  WRDW
  • Augusta Technical College invites scholarship donors and recipients to its Second Annual Scholarship Celebration today at 12 p.m. in the Information Technology Center—honoring those who helped award over $117,000 in scholarships to 178 students. Speakers include nursing student Zuri Todd and sponsor Shelia Stuberfield, both set to share their personal stories and inspiration.  Augusta CEO

  • At least three tornadoes were confirmed in parts of the region from severe storms on Sunday morning—officials are checking damage in Barnwell and Burke counties today to see if any twisters hit the CSRA where none was confirmed yet.  WRDW

  • Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said he is updating his probe and settlement process with GS Partners/GSB Group so Georgia investors will get their deposits returned. Georgia leads with 1,501 claims and 121 from the state—official sources said investors should contact the Securities Division for help—ensuring the process stays clear and fair.  Augusta CEO
