  • Augusta Market opened for the season on March 15 with live music and vendors at Riverwalk — fresh vegetables were sold. The market will run on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Nov 15.  Augusta Good News
  • Hundreds of runners took part on March 15th in the fifth annual Run the Runway 5k at Augusta Regional Airport—raising proceeds for BreatheStrong CF—an organization that supports individuals with cystic fibrosis.  The Augusta Chronicle

CRIME NEWS

  • Hannah G. Cobb was granted a $25,000 bond at her hearing in connection with Telvin Osborne's fatal shooting and now faces level 1 monitoring — she is required to surrender all her firearms.  WRDW
  • A woman filed two lawsuits on March 7 after her husband died in a crash on March 26th, 2023 when a Richmond County deputy drove too fast at the intersection (Highway 25 and Cohen Road). The lawsuits claim that both former and current county sheriffs and local government staff did not train or supervise their workers properly.  WRDW

  • Foodees Food & Culture Festival returned to downtown Augusta on March 14, 2025 (its second year) with food trucks offering diverse local dishes and a celebration of the area's food culture.  The Augusta Chronicle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Maj. Chester Huffman leads a plan to expand the overcrowded Charles B. Webster Detention Center where 1,300 inmates use only 1,040 beds. His proposal requests $115 million through SPLOST to add 300 beds + upgrade aging facilities, with work expected to begin in about a year and finish in roughly three years.  The Augusta Press
  • City leaders in North Augusta say the city is growing as new projects (apartments and a public safety headquarters) are planned to open soon. Officials expect construction to start in the coming weeks to support the expanding community.  WRDW
