HEALTH NEWS

  • During restaurant safety inspections from Feb. 28 to Mar. 6, inspectors found that Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers at 1102 Broad St. earned a score of 74 due to missing health agreements and buildup in the ice machine (issues prompting corrections), while other local eateries recorded stronger scores.  The Augusta Chronicle

  • The Jaguars clinched their first Peach Belt Conference Tournament title in 33 years on Sunday afternoon at the Lumpkin Center by beating Georgia College 61-56 to secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Southeast Regional — host to be announced Sunday night.  Augusta Good News
  • On Thursday, Silas Turner set a new state record when he caught a nearly 32-lb longnose gar at Lake Blackshear, according to the Georgia DNR. The record catch marked the first new freshwater record this year and may spur more anglers to try their luck.  WRDW
