  • The Salvation Army of Augusta is partnering with Tacocat to host a Spring Cleaning donation drive this month + community members are invited to drop off gently used items at designated centers.  WRDW

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Delta Air Lines will launch its largest flight schedule for Augusta during Masters week, offering special in-flight entertainment for travelers. The expanded service aims to enhance travel ahead of the tournament.  WRDW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Harris Literacy Center at Augusta University was honored with the 2026 Georgia Reads Community Award after a ceremony at the Capitol on March 3; it received $20,000 to expand literacy programs for students, families, and adult learners + supportive community partners.  Augusta CEO
  • Augusta University students took part in Capitol Day at the Georgia State Capitol — a hands-on day where 35 students and interns met lawmakers and learned how state government works. University officials said the event strengthened partnerships between the school and state leaders.  Augusta CEO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • SRNS’s Containment Fabrication Facility at the Savannah River Site built one of its largest containment huts in about one week for H Canyon’s recycle vessel fan replacement; the 20.5-foot wide, 27-foot long and 14-foot high structure helps protect workers and the environment.  Augusta CEO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Richmond County K9 Unit received a donation of 10 first aid kits from Westside Animal Hospital this week. Sheriff Gino Brantley said the kits will let deputies tend to injured K9s during duty — a sign of strong local business support.  WRDW

  • The Sports Squad recapped a busy week in AU Athletics with updates from the More Than Golf Invitational, AU baseball’s series against Georgia Southwestern, and men's tennis at Francis Marion.
