- ➤ Wellstar Health System and Columbia County Schools hosted a 2026 Opportunity Summit on Jan. 23 at the CCSD Complex (connecting local high school students with educational resources). The event highlighted support and engagement for students. The Augusta Press
- ➤ Twelve grant recipients and 14 educators toured the Manufacturing Technology Center (MTC) at the Savannah River Site to explore nuclear career opportunities as part of the Workforce Opportunities in Regional Careers program. The visit took place recently. The Augusta Press

- ➤ Motorists in the Augusta area should drive with caution today as Winter Storm Fern brings an 80% chance of freezing rain and less than one-tenth inch ice accumulation; Columbia County crews have treated roads with salt and gravel and remain on standby to respond to any issues. - ➤ On Sunday, the RCSO conducted welfare checks and transported vulnerable residents to shelters at the Salvation Army Center of Hope, the Augusta Rescue Mission, and the county warming shelter at May Park as freezing weather hit — several deputies volunteered beyond their shifts to assist.
