- ➤ Augusta will host the 39th annual Martin Luther King Jr. memorial celebration at Greater Young Zion Baptist Church on Jan. 19. The event starts with an 11 a.m. premusical and a noon ceremony led by Pastor Tony Lowden. WRDW
- ➤ The Burke County YMCA will host a Polar Plunge on Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon to raise funds for its swimming and wellness programs. The event costs $25 per person (group discount: five for $100) and offers hot chocolate with a fire pit for s’mores. Augusta Good News
